Oborevwori Salutes the Legacy of Professor Amos Utuama

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed deep condolences to the family of the former Deputy Governor, Professor Amos Agbe Utuama (SAN), who passed away early Saturday in Warri after a prolonged illness, aged 77.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori extended his sympathies to Utuama’s family, the Urhobo nation, the people of Ughelli South Local Government Area, and the Otu-Jeremi community.

Reflecting on Utuama’s distinguished career, the governor described him as a revered law teacher and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who made significant contributions to Delta State as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General from 1999 to 2007 and later as Deputy Governor from 2007 to 2015.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I mourn the passing of a gentleman, scholar, and statesman, Professor Amos Agbe Utuama, SAN, who left us in the early hours of Saturday in Warri,” Oborevwori said. “I received the devastating news of his death with great shock. Professor Utuama was a gentleman-politician and academic who distinguished himself in service to his people as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, and later as Deputy Governor of Delta State.”

Governor Oborevwori praised Utuama as a world-class academic, whose scholarship and research greatly enriched Nigerian legal thought and practice. “Throughout his career, Prof. Utuama remained deeply committed to the unity and development of our state,” he added.

The governor concluded by offering prayers for the departed soul, asking that God grant strength and solace to Utuama’s family and loved ones in their time of loss.
