Oborevwori Reaffirms People-First Approach
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reiterated his commitment to prioritizing the interests of the people in all his actions as governor, assuring that the state will not be shortchanged under his leadership.
The governor made this declaration on Friday during the 50th birthday thanksgiving of the Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, at St. Paul’s Catholic Cathedral, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area.
Commending the celebrant for his empowerment initiatives, Governor Oborevwori urged leaders to remember the widows and less-privileged in society, emphasizing the need for impactful service. “As people in authority, we must do what we will be remembered for. I am happy that you are empowering people from your constituency,” he said.
The governor also addressed detractors, stating, “We have so many people today who don’t want the progress of this state. What we are doing now, some people are not happy because they feel we want to outshine them. But for us, it is the people first, Delta first. All these positions are temporary. At the end, I will be remembered for the good things I achieved for the people.”
Governor Oborevwori emphasized his strict stance on accountability, particularly with contractors. “Nobody is my friend when it comes to delivering for the people. It is me they will ask, not the contractors. At the end, I want to be remembered for the good I achieved,” he added.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Mario Dibie congratulated Hon. Nwaobi on his exemplary service and urged leaders to consider the lessons of the past, present, and future in their decisions.
Hon. Nwaobi expressed gratitude to God for reaching the milestone age of 50 and thanked Governor Oborevwori and his constituents for their unwavering support throughout his political journey.
