Oborevwori Reaffirms Commitment to Ndokwa Nation, Pledges N50 Billion for Statewide Road Infrastructure
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusivity and equitable development, emphasising the importance of the Ndokwa Nation in the governance of the state.
The Governor made this declaration during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Ndokwa Neku Union, led by its President-General, Brig. Gen. Mike Ndubuisi (rtd). While addressing the delegation, Oborevwori highlighted ongoing developmental efforts in the region, including 27 active projects such as the Ndemili/Utagba-Uno Road, which he described as critical, with the first phase progressing steadily.
Describing their role as integral, he stated, “This is your government. You are number two in this government, so receiving you is like a homecoming.”
In a move to bolster infrastructure across the state, the Governor announced a significant allocation of N50 billion for road construction in the 2025 fiscal year. He further disclosed that the State House of Assembly had approved an additional N200 billion for road infrastructure, ensuring that every local government area will receive N2 billion for projects. “Most of the budget is dedicated to road infrastructure, and work will commence on many projects during the dry season,” he added.
Addressing concerns about Sterling Oil’s alleged non-compliance with its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Oborevwori advocated for dialogue as a means of resolving disputes. “I believe in dialogue; it is the best approach. Please encourage your youths not to take the law into their hands. Engage the company and write to them for a meeting. We will also intervene to ensure compliance with the MoU,” he said.
Earlier, Brig. Gen. Ndubuisi commended the Governor for his efforts in mitigating the economic challenges arising from federal policies. He also lauded the inclusion of Ndokwa sons and daughters in key appointments, particularly the selection of a Deputy Governor from the region.
“We are grateful for your leadership and commitment. The Ndokwa Nation stands firmly behind you and will continue to support your administration beyond 2027,” Gen. Ndubuisi affirmed.
The Ndokwa Neku Union further appealed for additional road construction projects and the establishment of a campus of Dennis Osadebay University in the Ndokwa region, reinforcing their support for the Governor’s developmental vision.
