Oborevwori Promises More Infrastructure Projects for Delta State in 2025

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured residents of intensified infrastructure development across the state in 2025, including enhanced project inspections and inaugurations.
Governor Oborevwori made this commitment on Sunday while inspecting various projects in Asaba and the state capital territory, highlighting his administration’s dedication to delivering quality infrastructure.
During a visit to the proposed Asaba International Market, the governor emphasized the importance of firsthand assessments to ensure projects align with set standards. “We won’t just sit in the office approving projects; we need to see how they are progressing,” he said.
He disclosed that groundbreaking for the Asaba International Market is planned before the end of the month, with preliminary construction already underway. “This market is part of efforts to give the capital territory a facelift. We aim to ensure Asaba is clean and its infrastructure is up to date,” he stated.
The governor noted the need for regular road maintenance, citing the aging infrastructure in the state. “Many roads require overlays because they are old. In developed countries, road maintenance is a priority, and we intend to adopt the same approach while constructing new roads to modernize the Asaba Capital Territory,” he said.
Governor Oborevwori explained that the market, formerly the Abraka Market, was relocated to Oko to curb criminal activities in the area. The new development is a partnership with Efab Properties Limited, with the state government providing land in exchange for 20% of the proceeds from the project.
The governor also inspected completed and ongoing projects, including the Gerald Onianwa Crescent, Odigwe Juwa Avenue, storm drainage works behind Asaba Specialist Hospital, and other road networks in Oshimili South Local Government Area.
Oborevwori reiterated his administration’s commitment to sustainable development, ensuring that Asaba and the state at large continue to benefit from improved infrastructure and urban renewal initiatives.
