UGBOKODO-OKPE/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, his predecessor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, were among the dignitaries who paid their last respects at the funeral service of the late Pa William Orwin Augoye.
Pa Augoye, father of Hon. James Augoye, the Member representing Okpe State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, passed away on November 13, 2024, at the age of 97. The funeral service was held at Ugbokodo-Okpe Secondary School, Ugbokodo-Okpe, in Okpe Local Government Area.
In his remarks, Governor Oborevwori described the late Pa Augoye as a disciplined father and a dedicated teacher who played a significant role in shaping society. He praised the deceased for instilling strong moral values in his children, noting that his legacy was evident in the upright life of Hon. James Augoye.
“Pa Augoye lived a life of discipline and left behind a legacy of good values. When you assess a man, you look at his family. His children are a reflection of his teachings. He was a man of integrity who raised his children to be responsible members of society,” Oborevwori said.
The governor urged the living to reflect on their own legacies, emphasizing the importance of living a life that would be remembered for good deeds. “One day, we will all be in this casket. What will be said about you? What will you be remembered for? It is important to maintain a covenant with God and do the right things while on Earth,” he added.
In his sermon, Pastor Mike Irihobose emphasized that death was inevitable and urged those yet to accept Christ to do so before it was too late. He described Pa Augoye as a fulfilled man who lived and died in Christ, encouraging his family to uphold his faith and values.
The funeral ceremony was attended by the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Solomon Arenyeka; Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.
