Oborevwori is Committed to Equitable Development in Delta State -Osuoza
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his dedication to fostering balanced development across all regions of the state, particularly in riverine communities, which he emphasised as integral to his administration’s agenda.
This commitment was highlighted by Dr. Ifeanyi M. Osuoza, the Honourable Commissioner for Information, in a recent statement.
He stated that Governor Oborevwori’s dedication was evident during the inauguration of the Model Secondary School in Ogulagha, located in the Burutu Local Government Area, alongside the commissioning of a Faculty Building and Lecture Halls at the Nigerian Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Warri South-West.
“These initiatives align with the Meaningful Development component of the MORE Agenda, aiming to ensure that children in riverine communities have access to quality secondary education”, he stated.
“Furthermore, these projects are poised to cultivate graduates equipped with the unique skills and knowledge necessary to transform Nigeria’s maritime sector, which is rich in potential for urbanisation, job creation, and business opportunities within the host community and its surroundings”.
The commissioner further stated that, in addition to these educational advancements, Governor Oborevwori has sanctioned the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the 12.1-kilometre Odimodi-Okuntu-Ogulagha Road, with a budget of N5.2 billion.
“He has also expedited plans for a new road leading to the permanent site of the Maritime University, further demonstrating his commitment to enhancing infrastructure in the area”.
He further pointed out that the Governor’s commitment to sustainable agricultural reforms, as part of the Realistic Reforms component of the MORE Agenda, is equally noteworthy.
“Over 6,000 farmers have benefited from the distribution of agricultural inputs, while fertilisers have been provided to farmers across all 25 Local Government Areas, significantly boosting agricultural productivity and ensuring food security for Deltans”.
“The Delta State Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (D-CARES) programme has seen 97,365 participants recently, bringing the total beneficiaries to over 208,000. Additionally, Governor Oborevwori has allocated N1 billion in counterpart funding to the African Union Development Agency, aimed at empowering 2,000 farmers involved in food production, livestock, and aquaculture”.
That statement also reviewed the Governors achievements in the health sector as the Dr. Osuoza.
“In his efforts to strengthen the health sector, the Governor has approved the establishment of a College of Medical Sciences at the Delta State University of Science and Technology (DSUST) in Ozoro”.
“This initiative will not only enhance medical education in the region but also provide more opportunities for students pursuing medical careers within Delta State”.
“As Governor Oborevwori continues to implement these far-reaching initiatives, it is clear that he is systematically advancing Delta State across all sectors and within its three Senatorial zones”.
“Deltans are witnessing the tangible benefits of his efforts, affirming that Governor Oborevwori is indeed working to improve their lives”. He concluded.
