ASABA/Nigeria: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has marked his first 100 days in office with the grand inauguration of multi-billion naira projects at Dennis Osadebe University, Anwai-Asaba.
The event also featured the commissioning of an extensive network of roads with line drains around Madonna College road in Asaba and Okpanam areas of Oshimili South and Oshimili North Local Government Council areas of the state.
In his address, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the importance of continuing projects initiated by predecessors, stating, “Government is a continuum, and it is the duty of successive administrations to put the resources of the state to good use by ensuring that projects are completed in a timely and prudent manner.

He commended his predecessors for their commitment to building on the legacies of those who came before them, giving special recognition to the immediate past Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for initiating the projects.
The projects inaugurated at Dennis Osadebe University include 500 and double 250-seater auditoriums, a faculty building, furnishing of the Faculty of Agriculture, an administrative building, Vice-Chancellor’s lodge, gate entrance, and the main entrance access road.
Governor Oborevwori stressed the importance of education in modern society and affirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the development of three new universities in the state. He challenged the University authorities to prioritize curriculum development and innovation to equip graduates with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Nyerhovwo Tonukari, lauded Governor Oborevwori for transforming the university, which now boasts seven faculties and 40 programs. Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Benjamin Oghojafor, highlighted the institution’s role in providing essential skills to combat unemployment in the country.
The road and erosion control inauguration addressed the challenges faced by the community due to flooding and erosion. Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, described the completion of the project as a significant relief to the area’s residents.
Local government officials, including Chairman Oshimili South Local Government Council, Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili, and his Oshimili North counterpart, Hon. Innocent Eseweze, commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his dedication to completing ongoing projects and pledged their support to the administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda.
The ceremonies were attended by State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, his deputy, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, Secretary to the Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, Commissioners, traditional rulers, and other top government functionaries.
