Oborevwori Declares Victory Over Critics, Reaffirms Educational Credentials

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has declared that those who questioned his academic qualifications during the 2023 electioneering campaign have been put to shame.

Speaking on Friday when he hosted the Executive Committee of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Alumni Association Worldwide at Government House, Asaba, Oborevwori dismissed the allegations as baseless political blackmail.

“During the campaign, some persons tried to tarnish my image by claiming I never went to school,” the governor stated. “But today, this visit by the leadership of my alma mater is another confirmation that I am indeed a proud graduate of Ambrose Alli University.”

Oborevwori, who was conferred with the AAU Alumni Hero Award and the Award of Excellence, reaffirmed his commitment to education and personal development. He detailed his academic journey, noting that he earned a Second-Class Upper Division (2:1) in his Bachelor’s degree from AAU before proceeding to Delta State University, Abraka, where he completed a full-time Master’s degree as part of the pioneer class.

“Throughout the court cases, my university stood by me, and even opposition lawyers were shocked. I still have my matriculation number. When people question my education, I just laugh,” he said.

The governor commended the alumni association for its ongoing projects at the university and pledged personal support for its N500 million Computerized Examination and Records Building, which is under construction and will be named after him upon completion.

Dr. Clifford Omozeghian, Worldwide President of the AAU Alumni Association, lauded Oborevwori’s achievements, describing him as a testament to the institution’s legacy. He emphasized the association’s commitment to supporting the university’s infrastructure, highlighting the urgent need for improved result processing and certification systems.

“As the first governor produced by Ambrose Alli University, we are immensely proud of your success and leadership. Your contributions to governance will be remembered, and today, we honor you with these awards in recognition of your excellence,” Omozeghian stated.

The visit further solidified the governor’s bond with his alma mater and reinforced his commitment to educational development in Delta State.
