Oborevwori Calls for Unity, Commends Onyeme’s Commitment at 60th Birthday Thanksgiving

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity and peace as fundamental pillars for national development.

Speaking on Sunday at the 60th birthday thanksgiving service of the State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, at St. Philips Anglican Church, Asaba, Oborevwori lauded the celebrant’s dedication to service and philanthropy, particularly his medical outreach initiative.

The governor praised Onyeme’s unwavering loyalty and commitment to Delta State, describing him as a dependable partner in governance. “Your loyalty is not 99 percent but 100 percent, and I deeply appreciate your support. I am happy to work with you as my deputy governor,” Oborevwori stated.

He urged Nigerians to uphold values of hard work, integrity, and selflessness, emphasizing that a united and dedicated people would ensure a brighter future for the nation. “Let us continue to support one another and work for the collective good. The future is bright when we commit ourselves to selfless service, just as Onyeme has exemplified,” he said.

On security, Oborevwori assured that his administration was working closely with service chiefs to maintain peace and stability in the state. “What happens in other states does not happen here. Some of them are media stunts, but we will continue to improve,” he noted.

In his sermon, Ven. Felix Okonkwo, the Archdeacon and Vicar of the church, described thanksgiving as an act of gratitude to God, stating that appreciation opens doors for greater blessings. He acknowledged Onyeme’s political journey as divinely guided.

The thanksgiving service was attended by Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo; Senator Dr. Akon Eyakenyi (Akwa Ibom); Senator Samuel Ode (Benue); immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; State PDP Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka; members of the National Assembly; and state legislators.

Sir Monday Onyeme and his wife, Ezinne Catherine Onyeme, read the first and second lessons, respectively.
