Oborevwori Bags Vanguard Governor of the Year Award for Transformational Leadership
ABUJA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been honoured with the Vanguard Newspaper’s Governor of the Year 2024 Award, a recognition of his sterling commitment to good governance, inclusive leadership, and impactful development across the state.
The award was presented at the 13th Annual Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards held in Lagos, where the newspaper’s editorial board lauded Oborevwori’s administration for demonstrating excellence in public service delivery, infrastructural expansion, and economic transformation under his widely embraced “MORE” agenda.
Oborevwori, who assumed office less than two years ago, has overseen a string of developmental milestones that have reshaped critical sectors in the state. His “MORE” agenda — Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security — has become a blueprint for progressive governance in the region.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Oborevwori dedicated the award to the people of Delta State, describing them as the true heroes of the state’s progress. “This award is not just about me. It is about the hardworking, resilient people of Delta State. It is a call to do more, to serve better, and to continue building a state we can all be proud of,” he said.
The Vanguard editorial board, in its citation, praised the governor’s people-focused style of leadership and noted tangible improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and security.
