Oborevwori Aims to Make Delta Nigeria’s Largest Economy by 2031, Says Oghenesivbe

ASABA/Nigeria: The Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has expressed confidence that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is committed to transforming Delta into the largest economy in Nigeria by the end of his administration.
Oghenesivbe made the statement during a live broadcast of “Orientation Panorama,” a public affairs program on Voice of Delta 97.7 FM in Asaba on Wednesday.
Oghenesivbe attributed the state’s impressive economic growth to Governor Oborevwori’s strategic and diligent implementation of his MORE Agenda, which focuses on prudent resource management, accountability, transparency, and robust oversight to ensure sustainable development across all sectors of the state economy. He highlighted that the governor’s economic vision is supported by a team of highly skilled technocrats, economists, and financial experts.
According to Oghenesivbe, the governor’s efforts have not only reduced poverty but also fostered substantial growth in the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), alongside a thriving private sector. He pointed out that the successful execution of the MORE Agenda has helped scale prosperity to new heights in Delta, contributing to the state’s expanding economy.
Oghenesivbe also noted the recognition that Governor Oborevwori has received for his leadership. The governor was recently honored with the “Governor of the Year Award” and the “Best Governor in Infrastructure Development Award” by ThisDay Arise Media Group and The New Telegraph Newspapers, respectively, within just 18 months in office. These accolades, according to Oghenesivbe, reflect the governor’s outstanding performance in improving the state’s infrastructure and socioeconomic status.
The Director General further disclosed that Delta had seen notable advancements across various sectors. Agriculture grew by over 13 percent in the last 18 months, while the expansion of infrastructure and improvements in education and healthcare sectors have created thousands of jobs and generated significant wealth for Deltans. Oghenesivbe credited these achievements to the visionary leadership of Governor Oborevwori, describing him as an indefatigable leader focused on the welfare of the people.
“Delta is now the fourth largest economy in Nigeria, as recently affirmed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu,” Oghenesivbe said, emphasizing that such progress is a clear reflection of effective governance. He expressed optimism that the best of Governor Oborevwori’s administration is yet to come, with plans to further improve social welfare services, human capacity development, and financial support for small and medium-scale businesses.
Concluding, Oghenesivbe asserted that the governor’s goal of making Delta the largest economy in Nigeria by the end of his tenure in 2031 is within reach. “Governor Oborevwori is on a mission to drive Delta to the top of Nigeria’s economic ladder, relying on sound fiscal management, accountability, and result-oriented reforms,” he added.
