Obasanjo, Lawal, Okowa, Attend CBN Gov Mother’s Burial

okowaobasanjoNigerians from all walks of life at the weekend thronged Agbor, IKa South Local Government Area of Delta State to grace the funeral service of Late Mrs. Alice Emefiele, mother of the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele with Most Revd. Nicholas Okoh, Primate of Anglican Communion admonishing Nigerians to promote peace and unity in their communities for the growth of the nation.
President Mohammedu Buhari, represented by Engr. Babachir Lawal, Secretary to the Government of Federation, was among prominent Nigerians from within and outside the country who graced the occasion. Others were former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Minister for State Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu, Governors Ifeanyi Okowa [Delta], Adams Oshiomole [Edo]; Ben Ayade [Cross River]; Willy Obiano [Anambra] Emmanuel Udom [Akwa Ibom]; Abiola Ajimobi [Oyo]; Rauf Aregbesola [Osun]; and Deputy Governor, Benue State.
Other dignitaries include, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman Dangote Group, Chief Femi Otedola, Chairman, Forte Oil,, Mr. Jim Ovia, Former Chairman, Zenith Bank, Speaker of the House of Representative, represented by Deputy Minority Leader, Hon. Onyema among others.
Most Rev. Okoh, who delivered the sermon at the service said that Nigerians should always promote peace and unity in their communities so as to engender growth and development in the country stressing that ” We need unity and peace in this country to make progress, we also need justice and righteousness to achieve success in the struggle against corruption in this country.”
Rev. Okoh observed that it was not the longevity of life that matters but the contributions made to the development of the society adding that the impact made on people’s life and the society was what matters stressing that Late Mrs. Emefiele positively impacted on the life of those around her and her community.
Dr. Godwin Emefiele in a brief speech, appreciated everybody for coming to join his family to give their late mother a befitting burial, stating that his late mother brought them up in the way of God and taught them that hard work pays in life adding that ” I enjoin mothers to bring up their children in the way of God, correct them when they are wrong and teach them to be hard working in life, they will turn out to be good citizens of the society.”
