NUC Approves Establishment of Three New Faculties at Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, confirmed on Tuesday that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has given the greenlight to the establishment of three additional faculties for the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro.
Governor Oborevwori made the announcement regarding the NUC’s approval for the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, and Health Sciences during a solidarity and congratulatory visit. The visit was made by a delegation of leaders and traditional rulers from Isoko nation at the Government House in Asaba.
Expressing gratitude to the Isoko nation for their steadfast support, Governor Oborevwori assured that his administration remains committed to the comprehensive development of all regions within the state.
“I appreciate this visit because it is long overdue. I know the support that you people gave to me and I made some promises that I am still keeping till today. The Chief of Staff was the first person I appointed from Isoko nation. I have given key appointments to the Isoko nation,” Governor Oborevwori remarked.
Acknowledging the requests brought forth by the delegation, the Governor affirmed his dedication to governing for the betterment of all Deltans, emphasizing the importance of unity and peace throughout Delta State.
“We are doing our best. If you drive through the Oleh Roundabout, you will smile because it has changed. We need unity and peace in Delta State,” he added.
Governor Oborevwori underscored his commitment to upholding the educational interests of the Isoko people, particularly with the establishment of the three new faculties at the University, aligning with his administration’s MORE Agenda.
Furthermore, he addressed the resolution of issues concerning the Isoko Development Union (IDU) – Youth Wing, demonstrating his administration’s dedication to fostering harmony within the Isoko community.
Prior to the Governor’s remarks, President of the Isoko Development Union, Professor Chris Akpotu, conveyed the delegation’s congratulations on the Governor’s legal triumph at the Supreme Court and discussed avenues for furthering Isoko development.
“We are here to visit you as our very great in-law and to congratulate you on your tortuous journey from the election to the tribunal and up to the Supreme Court,” Professor Akpotu stated.
Commending the ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Ughelli – Asaba road, Professor Akpotu urged Governor Oborovweri to prioritize the completion of critical road networks within the Isoko region.
Speaking to journalists following the visit, Professor Akpotu affirmed that discussions had addressed pertinent issues concerning the Isoko community and assured that progress was being made.
Additionally, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, representing Isoko North, Isoko South Federal Constituency, pledged collaboration with the State Government to ensure conducive learning environments for students.
