No Vacancy in Delta Government House in 2027, Speaker Guwor

ASABA/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has declared that there is no vacancy in the Delta State Government House in 2027, affirming that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remains the sole governorship candidate for the next election.

Guwor made the statement while receiving the executive and members of “Unique Ladies for Sheriff” at his official residence in Asaba. He emphasized that Governor Oborevwori’s performance in the past 22 months speaks volumes, noting that Deltans are prepared to reward his good governance with another term in office.

Accompanied by his wife, Timiebi, the Speaker assured that the governor remains committed to fulfilling his election promises. He dismissed distractions from individuals who, according to him, do not have the state’s best interests at heart, reaffirming that Oborevwori’s administration would not be slowed down by opposition antics.

“There will be only one governorship candidate in Delta State in 2027,” Guwor said. “Our governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is not a noise-making governor but a results-driven administrator whose works speak for him. He has done exceptionally well, and Deltans are proud of him.”

He recalled that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won 21 out of 25 local government areas in the 2023 election and predicted a landslide victory in 2027. “This time, it will be 25 out of 25. Not a single local government area will be lost to the opposition. The Delta State Assembly will stand firmly with the governor as he continues to drive accelerated development in the state,” he added.

The Speaker commended the women’s group for their unwavering support for Oborevwori’s re-election bid and for mobilizing grassroots support across the state. He noted that their unity of purpose aligns with the PDP’s leadership efforts to promote cohesion among party members in Delta.

“The slogan of your group has sent a clear message—there is no vacancy in Government House in 2027. Your efforts are complementing and strengthening the party’s strategy to keep Delta on the path of progress,” Guwor said. “Deltans are united behind our governor for a second term because he has proven his commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy to the people.”

He urged the group to continue their mobilization efforts and expressed appreciation for their goodwill messages on his 46th birthday.

Earlier, the National President of Unique Ladies for Sheriff, Dame Nkem Okwuofu, reiterated the group’s dedication to supporting the governor’s agenda and ensuring Delta’s continued development. She thanked the Speaker for his support and, on behalf of the group, wished him well on his birthday.

Among those present at the meeting were the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo; Majority Leader, Dr. Emeka Nwaobi; Deputy Chief Whip, Fred Martins; Majority Whip, Bernard Odior; the member representing Burutu 2, Pereotu Oloye; and former House member, Daniel Mayuku.
