NNU Election Committee Chairman Calls for Peaceful, Credible Elections

KWALE/Nigeria: The Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the upcoming Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU) general elections, Ogbuiji Elvis Kaine Eneduwe, has urged indigenes of the Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality to actively participate in the forthcoming exercise by obtaining their Expression of Interest Forms. He emphasized the importance of contributing to the socio-political, economic, and cultural advancement of the ethnic nationality through leadership roles.

Speaking to journalists in Kwale, Ogbuiji Kaine called on prospective candidates and voter delegates to conduct themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner, adhering strictly to the rules and regulations guiding the elections. He stressed the need for a conducive atmosphere before, during, and after the elections, scheduled for February 2025, urging all stakeholders to avoid any actions or statements that could incite violence or chaos.

To accommodate logistical challenges, the committee extended the deadline for the collection of nomination forms from January 15 to January 20, 2025. Ogbuiji Kaine encouraged contestants to engage in community-to-community campaigns across the Ndokwa Nation, presenting their manifestos and interacting directly with the people.

Reassuring the public of a transparent process, the Electoral Committee Chairman affirmed that all members of the committee are individuals of integrity and pledged to ensure free, fair, and credible elections. He also warned against vote-buying, cautioning delegates not to compromise their voices by selling their votes.

Clan heads were reminded to submit the names of their delegates to the Electoral Committee by January 23, 2025. Ogbuiji Kaine used the occasion to thank God for the progress of the Ndokwa people into 2025, expressing hope for a peaceful and successful electoral process that would reflect the collective aspirations of the ethnic nationality.

The call for decorum and integrity sets the tone for what is expected to be a milestone in the union’s democratic journey, with all eyes on the NNU elections as a benchmark for peaceful and credible leadership transitions.
