NNU Abuja Inauguration: Ndokwa Nation asked to be United

The people of Ndokwa have been called to be united in other to attain any form of development.
This call was made during the inauguration of the Abuja Branch of the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), on Saturday 28 November, 2015 held at the Rockview Hotels, Abuja.
The occasion which was attended by sons and daughters of Ndokwa extraction and friends, was chaired by High Chief Michael Uwaka, also showcased Ndokwa music and tradition.
In his welcome address the chairman of the new branch, HRH (Barr) Emmanuel Obiechina, Akor of Alka kingdom called on the people of Ndokwa to be united, while at the same time asking the government to provide security for the people of the area.
“Our survival and existence is grossly insecure because of diverse environmental abuses due to poor oversight functions of the relevant government agencies”. He said.
Continuing, the branch chairman, said that security is not when police or soldiers guard oppressors against the oppressed, but when normalcy is not observed in a society, insecurity sets in.
Citing the situation between the people and the oil companies operating in the area as one of those cases where insecurity is institutionalised as the companies do not keep to agreed Memorandum of Understanding, (MoU), such a situation he said breads insecurity, and most often the security apparatus of the state is used to whip the people into obedience, which is not right if the voices of the people are supressed.

Concluding, the branch chairman called for what he called as leadership revival within the Ndokwa nation which will be visionary and responsive approach means of correcting these imbalances”.
In his speech at the occasion, the President-General of Ndokwa Neku Union, (NNU), Pharm. Paul Enebeli called on the leadership of the new branch to be steady fast, and work closely together.
“Every member must know his or her role, show understanding, embrace love and abhor jealousy”. He said.
Pharm. Enebeli also warned the new leadership of the fact that people are waiting for them to succeed and after they will cook up stories of financial impropriety, tenure elongation just to discredit the leadership.

The inauguration which was held with a lecture, “The New Agenda for the Development of Ndokwa and the Challenges of Leadership”, had Mr. Nze Isaac Anayi as Guest Lecturer.
Other notable sons and daughters of Ndokwa who graced the occasion were, Hon Ossai Nicolas Ossai a member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani federal Constituency, Hon Ochor Chris Ochor, Director Social Services Development on the Board of DESOPADEC, who was represented by Mr Emmanuel Enebeli, the Warri Branch Executives of NNU, represented by the branch Chairman, Mr Emeka Enebeli and the Treasurer, Mrs Patience Ajieh.
The occasion also had the friends of Ndokwa in the person of Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, head of service of the federation, the vice chairman of the House of Representatives house committee on power, Senator Engr. Mustapha Bukar and many others.
