Nigerians Told To Shun Religious Intolerance, Sectionalism

KWALE/Nigeria: Nigerians have been urged to put away religious intolerance, tribalism, sectionalism and every issues that caused the civic war for which many soul were lost.
The Chairman of Ndokwa West Local Government Council, Hon. Ifeanyi Osakwe gave this charged during an inter-denominational service held at the local government secretariat as part of activities marking this year armed forces remembrance day.
The local government boss said the importance of the celebration of the armed force remembrance  day cannot be over emphasized, adding  the fallen heroes put their lives on the line for the peace and unity of the nation.
Hon. Osakwe called on people to ponder on a line in the national anthem which state that ‘though tribe and tongue may differ, in brotherhood we stand’.
The chairman said the event should be given the seriousness it deserve, adding it is an avenue to rededicate ourselves to the ideals of sacrifices made to secure peace and unity and launched the emblem with the sum of N200,000.00.
While thanking the local government chairman for his assistance, the chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Ndokwa West Chapter, Major Michael Oyemike, said the Legion in the local government is facing some challenges which include legion office and vehicles, among others
He appealed to both the local government and public spirited people of the society to come to their aid.
Prayers were offered for peace, unity and security for the local government area and the nation at large.
The highlight of the ceremony was the taking of the march past salute by the local government chairman and laying of wreath.
