Nigeria Maritime University Appoints Dr. Paul Bebenimibo as Registrar, Names Two Other Principal Officers

OKERENKOKO/Nigeria: The Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, has announced the appointment of Dr. Paul Bebenimibo as its new Registrar, alongside two other key principal officers, following its 21st Governing Council meeting held on April 15, 2025, in Warri, Delta State.

Also appointed were Abduldayan Fatimah Jibril as the University Librarian and Gbe Tamaraudebaemi Justin as the institution’s new Bursar.

Dr. Bebenimibo, a seasoned academic administrator, was until his appointment the Head of the Department of Broadcasting, Journalism and Media Studies at Delta State University, Abraka. He emerged as the leading candidate after a rigorous selection process conducted by an eight-member panel constituted by the university.

A respected figure in education and public service, Bebenimibo previously served as a Commissioner representing the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), earning accolades for integrity, dedication, and academic distinction.

The Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of the NMU Governing Council, Abdullahi Bardi, in a statement confirming the appointments, emphasized that the selection process adhered strictly to the university’s statutory regulations. He expressed confidence in the ability of the new officers to contribute meaningfully to the institution’s mission.

“With their proven track records and professional excellence, we are optimistic that the newly appointed principal officers will drive the university to greater heights,” Bardi stated.

The appointments are seen as a strategic step in strengthening NMU’s administrative framework and enhancing its reputation as a center of maritime excellence in Nigeria and beyond.
