OKPANAM/Nigeria: Members of the Legion of Mary undertook a significant evangelism campaign on Saturday, reaching out to the neighborhood surrounding St. Stella-Maris’ Mass Centre at St. Stella-Maris’ Mass Centre in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State. This outreach is part of preparations for the regular celebration of Holy Mass at the newly established Mass Centre.
Sir Fidelis Egugbo, a Knight of St. John’s International (KSJI), extended his gratitude to the evangelizers for their dedication to spreading the word of God. He announced that Rev. Fr. Andrew Mozia, Parish Priest of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Okpanam, has agreed to celebrate Holy Mass regularly at Maris Hall, located within Maris Schools.
“Glory to Jesus! It’s uplifting to see such joyful faces, especially after hours of evangelizing and sharing the message of God,” Sir Egugbo said. He highlighted that many local Catholics had been unable to attend Mass regularly due to the lack of a nearby venue. “It was with this challenge in mind that we approached Fr. Mozia, and we are blessed that he has accepted to celebrate Mass at St. Stella-Maris’ Mass Centre.”
Egugbo also expressed appreciation for Evangeliser Marian Obi, parishioners of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, and the broader Christian community for their support and patience. “Thank you to Marian Obi and Comrades Cletus Ngwodo and Felix Ogedegbe for their crucial roles in setting up the Mass Centre,” he added.
Evangeliser Marian Obi reflected on the collective efforts that led to the establishment of the Mass Centre and expressed gratitude for the positive reception from the local Catholic community. “The response has been encouraging, and we are hopeful that this will provide a convenient place for worship,” Obi said.
MaryJude Aluka of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Akuebulu shared her joy at the warm welcome from the community, noting, “We have many Catholics here, and it’s wonderful to see their enthusiastic support.”
Seventy-eight-year-old Joseph Onuorah Sunday Ijeh from St. Augustine Chaplaincy, Ibusa, praised the availability of Maris Hall for Mass celebrations. “This venue offers us a dedicated place to celebrate the Holy Mass,” he noted, expressing his gratitude to Maris Schools’ management and staff.
Sir Christopher Nwaoboshi, also from the Legion of Mary, highlighted the significance of the new facility. “With this hall, our neighborhood now has a reliable place to receive Holy Communion and attend Mass weekly,” he said, beaming with satisfaction.
