Ned Nwoko Welcomes Visit Rwanda Campaign Winners, Champions Africa’s Tourism Renaissance

ABUJA/Nigeria: In a milestone for African tourism, Senator Ned Nwoko, Chairman of Project Tourism Africa, hosted the winners of the inaugural Visit Rwanda campaign at his Abuja residence. The event celebrated the initiative’s success in spotlighting Africa’s vast tourism potential and positioning Nigeria as a gateway to global travel and cultural exchange.

Senator Nwoko, a renowned advocate for pan-African development, lauded the winners for their remarkable achievement and underscored his commitment to leveraging tourism as a driver of economic transformation across the continent. “Tourism is more than an economic engine; it is a bridge that connects people, fosters cultural understanding, and strengthens regional unity. Through Project Tourism, we are reshaping Africa’s narrative and establishing the continent as a premier global destination,” Nwoko declared.

He urged the winners to focus on the goals of their forthcoming trip, including fostering cultural exchange, celebrating Africa’s natural beauty, and drawing valuable lessons to enhance the sector. During an interactive session, the Senator highlighted critical issues such as climate change, global warming, and the preservation of Africa’s rich cultural identities. He stressed the importance of safeguarding these identities as vital elements of Africa’s post-colonial heritage.

Nwoko also drew attention to a growing sense of African self-determination, citing recent examples of African states resisting cultural and policy impositions from external forces. “This renewed era of pride and independence is crucial for preserving our traditions and values,” he noted.

Hon. Gloria Okolugbo, the Senator’s Director of Communications, congratulated the winners and urged them to serve as ambassadors for Nigeria during their journey. “Immerse yourselves in this experience and bring back insights that will inspire the growth of tourism in our country,” she said.

Mr. Chukwuebuka Anyaduba, Project Director of Tour Africa, praised the Visit Rwanda campaign for bridging gaps between African nations and fostering an appreciation of the continent’s unmatched beauty. “This campaign demonstrates the transformative power of tourism in connecting people, cultures, and economies. It marks just the beginning of Project Tourism Africa’s vision to place Africa at the forefront of global tourism,” he remarked.

The winners of the Visit Rwanda campaign, set to embark on their journey from December 15 to 20, 2024, expressed their gratitude for the opportunity. They applauded the Tour Africa Lottery for creating a platform that encourages pan-African exploration and promotes cultural understanding. Their trip will be coordinated by Ms. Anita Soina, East Africa Regional Representative for Project Tourism, and will feature Rwanda’s stunning landscapes, vibrant heritage, and renowned hospitality.

The winners of this maiden campaign include,  Ezirim Linda Chioma, Christiana Sanni, Juliet Ezeugbo, Hope Omale and Ifeoma Okparajiego.

The Tour Africa Lottery, sponsored by Linas International and supported by the Nigeria Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), is a bold initiative aimed at promoting pan-African tourism and regional integration.
