Ned Nwoko, BORBDA MD Discuss Fast-Tracking Delta Dam Projects

ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Prince Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North in the National Assembly, has reaffirmed his commitment to accelerating the completion of key dam projects in Delta State to boost water supply, agriculture, and regional development.

Hosting the Managing Director of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), Mr. Femi Adekanbi, and his team at his Abuja residence, Nwoko emphasized the significance of the Ogwashi-Uku and Amukpe dams. He noted that the Ogwashi-Uku Dam, once completed, will provide critical water resources to over 60 communities in Delta North, enhancing agriculture and potable water access. Similarly, the Amukpe Dam is expected to support irrigation and improve water supply, significantly contributing to the socio-economic growth of the region.

Commending the leadership of BORBDA under Adekanbi, Nwoko urged the agency to expedite work on the projects while pledging to ensure adequate funding and oversight to facilitate their timely completion.

In response, Mr. Adekanbi expressed appreciation for the senator’s commitment to regional development and provided updates on the status of the dam projects. He assured that BORBDA would prioritize their completion in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to driving infrastructural progress across Delta State and other areas within the Benin-Owena River Basin.
