Ndokwa Leaders Convene Virtual Security Summit Amid Rising Threats

ASABA/Nigeria: Worried by the deepening security crisis across Nigeria and its dangerous infiltration into the Ndokwa and Ndoshimili regions, prominent sons and daughters of the area will gather virtually on Sunday, April 13, 2025, to deliberate on solutions to the existential threats facing their communities.
The high-level meeting, tagged “Security Challenge in Nigeria Today: Ukwuani and Ndoshimili Peculiarities… Way Forward,” will be held via Zoom at 7:00 p.m. Nigerian time (2:00 p.m. Eastern Time, U.S. and Canada), and is being convened by the Ndokwa Committee for Growth and Development (NC4GD) in collaboration with the leadership of the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU).
According to the organizers, the virtual summit aims to raise awareness, foster unity, and mobilize coordinated community responses to the growing wave of insecurity that continues to claim lives and destabilize rural communities.
“This meeting is for awareness purposes only, but we cannot afford to delay these critical conversations. Failure to act now will leave our entire clime at risk,” the Zoom host, Mr. Sam Enudi, President of NAIA NY/NJ, stated in the release.
The lead paper will be presented by Dr. Innocent Enubuje, a former Second Vice President of the NNU, while the session will be anchored by Engr. Ike Onyenokwe, Mrs. Eunice Pen-Ogbolu, and Mr. Gabriel Ntiejum. Rapporteurs for the summit include Mr. Joachim Ndego and Barr. Sylvester Ogokoni.
Several high-ranking legal experts, including Barr. Anthony Odigwe, NNU BOT Secretary; Barr. Ambrose Egunatum, NNU Legal Adviser; Barr. Emmanuel Uti; and Barr. Emmanuel Agha, will be participating to provide constitutional and policy perspectives on community security and rights.
The virtual forum will also feature political representation from Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, as well as the three local government chairmen and state assembly members from Ukwuani, Ndokwa East, and Ndokwa West LGAs.
Traditional and community leaders are also expected to play key roles in the discussions. Chief Ameachi Asugwoni, President-General of NNU, is the chief host, while Prince Igwe Nzekwe is leading all clan Presidents-General in the region to ensure broad participation and local perspectives.
Rear Admiral Dickson Olisemenogor (rtd), Chairman of the NC4GD Security Committee, will serve as chairman of the meeting, with support from past NNU presidents, the NNU Board of Trustees chaired by Prof. Steve Okecha, and the region’s traditional leadership.
Organizers emphasized that although the meeting is strictly for dialogue and awareness creation, outcomes from the session will be forwarded to the NNU executive committee for implementation.
With mounting insecurity in various parts of Delta State, including cases of kidnapping, armed invasion, and destruction of farmland, the summit signals a community-wide urgency to reclaim peace, security, and coordinated action before the situation escalates further.
Participants are urged to join the meeting promptly via the provided Zoom link. For enquiries and RSVP, interested persons are directed to contact Mr. Ossai Udom via 08029541235.
