NDDC Commends Hensard University’s Entrepreneurial Vision and Academic Excellence
TORU-ORUA/Nigeria: In a significant acknowledgment of academic prowess and visionary leadership, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has lauded Hensard University for its commitment to fostering entrepreneurship among its students. This commendation comes as the NDDC expressed keen interest in partnering with the university to bolster entrepreneurial initiatives in the region.
Mr. Ogaga Akakabota, a Manager in the Commission’s Directorate of Education, Health, and Social Services, conveyed this appreciation during an assessment visit to Hensard University. The visit aimed to evaluate the progress of work on both the temporary and permanent sites of the university, situated in Bayelsa State.
Speaking to journalists at the university premises, Mr. Akakabota praised Hensard’s comprehensive approach to education, emphasizing its focus on practical skills, theoretical grounding, international exposure, and ethical leadership. He highlighted the university’s potential to nurture a generation of self-sufficient and productive youths, equipped with the necessary tools for success.
“We are here to conduct an evaluation and assessment of Hensard University’s readiness,” stated Mr. Akakabota. “We have received proposals for scholarships, capacity building, and grants, and it was imperative for us to witness firsthand the institution’s commitment to educational development in the Niger Delta.”
Following a thorough inspection of the university’s facilities, including laboratories, farms, and other infrastructure, the NDDC team lauded Hensard for its commendable resources and forward-thinking policies. Mr. Akakabota particularly highlighted the university’s emphasis on entrepreneurship, signaling a crucial shift towards producing graduates who are not just job-seekers but also potential employers.
Moreover, the Registrar, Mrs. Evelyn Umukoro, emphasized the university’s unique offerings, such as dual certification policies, international student exchange programs, and industry mentorship opportunities. These initiatives, she explained, aim to enrich students’ academic experiences and prepare them for the dynamic global landscape.
Hensard University’s commitment to inclusivity and academic excellence is further evident in the establishment of the Hensard University Foundation School. This initiative provides tailored pre-degree programs to equip students for success in various entrance examinations, offering an alternative pathway for direct admission to the university.
Key officials from Hensard University, including the Bursar, Director of Hensard University Foundation School, and Managing Director of the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation, accompanied the NDDC team during the tour, underscoring the collaborative spirit between the institution and stakeholders.
As Hensard University continues to accept applications for undergraduate and foundation school programs, prospective students are encouraged to explore its diverse range of offerings across five faculties. The university’s dedication to academic excellence and holistic development promises a transformative educational experience for all.
