MARIS LECTURE 2024: MTC Explains Why Erelu-Ede Was Chosen As A Discussant
ASABA/Nigeria: In preparation for the highly anticipated 2024 edition of the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture, the Maris Trust Council (MTC) has disclosed the rationale behind the selection of Freddie Toritseju Eruli-Ede, Esq., former Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Asaba branch, as a Discussant. The revelation came through a statement issued by the Secretary of MTC, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, on Sunday in Asaba.
The theme of this year’s lecture, “Flight Of Talents: Navigating Nigeria’s Brain Drain Predicament,” underscores the urgency of addressing Nigeria’s brain drain crisis. To enrich the discourse, MTC sought experts, making Eruli-Ede a fitting choice due to his profound legal acumen and involvement in pertinent social causes.
Eruli-Ede, a respected legal practitioner, is notably a member of the Delta State Taskforce on Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration, a role that aligns with the lecture’s thematic concerns.
The event, slated for March 27 at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, maintains its tradition of attracting distinguished guests. Expected attendees include the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, and his Deputy, Monday Onyeme, as Special Guest of Honour and Guest of Honour respectively.
Eruli-Ede will share the platform with other notable personalities such as Dr. Barry Gbe, a financial expert; Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, a renowned lawmaker; Chief Philomena Ededey Ugheminaye, an educationist; and Chief Tony Amaechi, a seasoned businessman cum politician. Chief Kemi Emina, Ph.D., will moderate the discussions.
Further enhancing the event’s prestige, Hon. Pastor Jonathan Ukodhiko, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Science and Technology, will chair the occasion. Lady Roseline Eno Amioku, Acting Chairman of the Delta State Civil Service Commission, assumes the role of Mother of the Day, while Rev. Fr. John Konyeke, a Catholic Priest, will serve as Father of the Day.
