JIHADIST SECURITY THREAT: Traditional Rulers Call For Vigilance In Delta

ASABA/Nigeria: Traditional rulers in Delta State have enjoined residents in the various communities of the state to be extra security conscious, following the threat by alleged Fulani Jihadists to attack the state, if the governor did not withdraw his support for the ban on open grazing.

Speaking to newsmen in Asaba, the state capital, the Chairman of the state Traditional Rulers Council and Obi of Owa Kingdom, Obi (Dr) Emmanuel Efeizomor II, maintained that the threat should not be ignored, adding that there was an urgent need for the vigilante groups in the various communities in the state to beef up security to forestall being taken unaware.

He condemned the threat in strong terms, adding that the spate of insecurity across the country was worrisome, even as he commended the state government for working very hard at ensuring the security of lives and properties in the state.

The royal father called on the Federal Government to halt the drift of the country into anarchy, just as he urged the state governor to ensure that Deltans and residents continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy in the state.
