JAMB Warns Against Nocturnal UTME Registration, Threatens Sanctions

ABUJA/Nigeria: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to certain registration centres found conducting nighttime registration for prospective candidates of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), describing the practice as a threat to candidates’ safety and security.

In a statement signed by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board acknowledged the enthusiasm of registration centres in accommodating candidates but stressed that this must not come at the expense of their well-being.

JAMB identified ten centres across various states as engaging in this unauthorized practice, including Thomas Adewumi University in Kwara State, CBT Centre Otukpo in Benue State, and Ebenezer International School in Rivers State, among others. The Board declared that this publication serves as a final warning, emphasizing that no further notices will be issued before decisive action is taken against the erring centres.

“JAMB will not tolerate any violations of the regulations governing the registration process and will take appropriate measures against any centre engaged in questionable or exploitative practices,” the statement read.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the registration process to ensure compliance with its guidelines, safeguard the integrity of the exercise, and promote fairness. JAMB urged all accredited centres to prioritize the safety and welfare of candidates over financial gains.
