Isoko South Pupils Get 17,000 Notebooks as Chairman Pledges School Repairs

OLEH/Nigeria: The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Friday Ovoke Warri, has officially launched the distribution of 17,000 exercise books to pupils in 48 primary schools across the council area, reaffirming his commitment to educational development.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday at Okpolo Enhwe Primary School, Warri emphasized that the initiative aligns with his “Warri for Your Worries” campaign promises and the M.O.R.E. agenda of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori. He commended the governor for prioritizing quality education, describing it as a crucial pillar of development.
“Education plays a critical role in the fortunes of every nation, and we must invest in this sector to enhance development,” Warri stated. “For those of us who completed our education in Nigeria’s public schools, we are here to encourage you to take your learning seriously. Today, we are no longer campaigning; we are here to address some of the educational concerns of our learners in Isoko South. Expect M.O.R.E from our administration.”
He urged school administrators to ensure the notebooks reach the pupils directly, warning against hoarding or selling them. Warri also announced plans for the immediate rehabilitation of the Okpolo Enhwe Headmaster’s quarters, noting that the current headmaster commutes daily from Ughelli due to the facility’s poor condition.
The Secretary of Isoko South Local Government Authority, Pius Emamowho, lauded the initiative as a significant step in advancing education in the area. He noted that the distribution of exercise books and the promise of infrastructure improvements would not only ease financial burdens on parents but also enhance the overall learning experience of pupils.
Receiving the notebooks on behalf of the schools, Conference Afedhae, the head of headmasters in Isoko South, expressed gratitude to the council chairman for his generosity and dedication to education.
The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of Isoko South, Theresa Ikrike; the Leader of the Isoko South Legislative Arm, Bright Odiologbo; the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Isoko South; councillors, political appointees, traditional leaders, and members of the public.
