International Day of the Girl Child: THRive Urges Nigerian Girls to Shape the Future
WARRI/Nigeria: As the world celebrates the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child with the theme “Girls’ Vision for the Future”, The Healthy Real Initiative for Valued Entrepreneurship (THRive) has called on the Nigerian girl child to embrace this moment and work towards shaping a brighter tomorrow.
In a message signed by its Executive Director, Emmanuel Enebeli, THRive emphasized the importance of girls acquiring personal skills that would position them as key contributors to Nigeria’s economic growth.
Enebeli highlighted the present challenges facing Nigeria, particularly the economic difficulties that have affected many households.
However, he urged the girl child not to be discouraged by these obstacles, but instead to see them as opportunities for growth and development.
“Despite the current economic situation, you have the power to change the narrative,” Enebeli said. “By focusing on building personal skills and investing in your future, you will play a vital role in the transformation of this nation.”
The message also stressed that the theme for this year’s celebration underscores the need for girls to be proactive in envisioning the future they want to see.
According to Enebeli, girls should focus on areas such as entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation, which are key drivers of economic development. He noted that their participation in these sectors would not only empower them but also contribute to Nigeria’s advancement on the global stage.
THRive’s message encouraged the girl child to remain steadfast in pursuing their dreams despite the socio-economic hurdles they may encounter.
Enebeli urged them to stay motivated, reminding them that they are the future leaders, innovators, and change-makers of the country. “Your vision for the future matters,” he said. “It is through your resilience and dedication that Nigeria will experience true growth.”
The organization also took the opportunity to congratulate Nigerian girls on the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child, commending their strength and determination in the face of adversity.
“We celebrate your courage, your brilliance, and your unwavering spirit. You are the future of this country, and we believe in your ability to shape it for the better,” the message concluded.
