“I AM COMING OUT”: OBOREVWORI SHINES AT THISDAY AWARDS
By Norbert Chiazor
Legendary American music star, Diana Ross was beautifully loud in Lagos at This Day/Arise TV Awards.
She sang soulfully like an angel, storming the stage shimmering in a lavish red gown.
But one man stood out in a gale of glory. Adorned in a dark suit, a delicate bow tie on immaculate white, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was the actor of the award night. Hefty in presence. Delightfully bold like John Travolta.
He came to the stage to receive the “GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR” award.
As I watched the man fondly called Sheriff, step forward in ovation, my mind flew to the enchanting “I am coming Out” lyrics of Diana Ross from her award-winning 1980 album.
Oborevwori is not given to razzle dazzle. But it is impossible to honour good without clapping.
For long he has been working too quiet in Delta. Eyes on infrastructure. Passion for the people. Planning, painting, pushing on all fronts in favour of good governance. There are vivid images of transformation from the cities to the villages with proof. Just two years on seat!
And one of Nigeria’s most colourful media establishments has taken note, celebrating the bounty of Oborevwori in Delta.
Gradually he is coming out with legacy bridges, schools, roads, health care initiatives, human empowerment, fiscal discipline and transparency. He is stepping up with development, opportunities for all Deltans, Real reforms, enhancing peace and security.
The world is watching.
Let “Street Credibility” arise this day!
