HOSTCON Youths Hail Nwoko’s Appointment, Back Crackdown on Oil Theft

ASABA/Nigeria: The Youths of Oil and Gas Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSTCON) have commended the appointment of Senator Ned Nwoko as Chairman of the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Crude Oil Theft, describing it as a crucial step in tackling Nigeria’s oil sector challenges.
In a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Emmanuel Fiawei Pathfinder, HOSTCON lauded the 10th Senate, under President Godswill Akpabio, for entrusting Senator Nwoko with the critical task of leading the fight against oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal bunkering in the Niger Delta.
“We firmly believe that Senator Nwoko’s leadership will play a pivotal role in revitalizing Nigeria’s oil and gas industry and tackling the economic challenges the nation faces,” the statement read, emphasizing that his swift actions since assuming the role signal a turning point in the fight against oil theft.
The youth body described Nwoko as “a round peg in a round hole,” highlighting his courage, international legal expertise, and strategic leadership. His recent engagements, including a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the establishment of a surveillance team to monitor oil facilities, demonstrate his commitment to dismantling oil theft syndicates.
HOSTCON pledged full support for Nwoko’s efforts, assuring Nigerians that under his leadership, the Senate committee would push for stronger intelligence-sharing, enhanced surveillance, and inter-agency collaboration to protect Nigeria’s oil wealth. “We stand united in our effort to save Nigeria’s oil sector from the grip of criminals determined to cripple our nation’s economy,” the statement concluded.
