Hon. Okolie Accused of Taking Credit for Others’ Development Projects

ASABA/Nigeria: The Concerned Citizens of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency have accused Hon. Ngozi Lawrence Okolie, the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, of fabricating performance claims and taking undue credit for projects executed by others.

In a statement jointly signed by the group’s chairman, Dr. Tony Curtis, and secretary, Austin Madu, they described the alleged actions of Hon. Okolie’s handlers as “reprehensible” and an attempt to mislead constituents. The group expressed disappointment that rather than addressing his perceived failures, Hon. Okolie’s media team resorted to what they termed “fictitious constituency performance claims and empty promises.”

According to the statement, a forensic review of Hon. Okolie’s alleged achievements revealed significant gaps. Claims that the lawmaker provided solar-powered streetlights and school furniture across various communities were flagged as dubious, with no specific details of the beneficiaries provided. “No community in Aniocha/Oshimili has testified to receiving such interventions,” the group stated, adding that similar projects in the area were carried out by other entities.

The group also questioned claims of empowerment programs and distribution of fertilizers to farmers. They alleged that Hon. Okolie’s press team failed to provide verifiable details, including the number of beneficiaries and the specific communities involved.

Furthermore, the group alleged that Hon. Okolie’s handlers are planning to rent private properties and present them as constituency projects while procuring individuals to pose as beneficiaries. They warned constituents to be vigilant against what they described as “a massive media hype of fictitious projects.”

The statement described Hon. Okolie’s leadership as a “calamitous miscarriage,” accusing him of lacking the capacity and vision to deliver meaningful development to the constituency. They also hinted at growing calls for his recall due to what they referred to as widespread dissatisfaction with his performance.

As of the time of filing this report, Hon. Okolie and his media team have not responded to the allegations.
