Herdsman, Cows killed in Emu Ebendo, Delta
Kwale: A herdsman and two of his cattle’s has been reported killed by unsuspected people in Emu Ebendo in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta state.
According to information received, the incident occurred on 23 of December, 2016, resulting in the death of one Mr Haruna Mohammed the herdsman, from gun wounds, whose body was later found pegged in a nearby river, and the two cows which was killed and butchered at an uncompleted petrol station in the town.
A spokesman of the community who spoke to our reporter, said that the Divisional Police Officer of the Abbi Police Division called the community leadership on the incident, but the leadership where out of the community for an important meeting on that faithful day.
Speaking further, our reporter was informed that the leadership agreed to verify the said incident when they return to the community.
However, according to the community member, the incident could be an isolated one that may involve some miscreants who want to cash in on the hard economic situation to feed.
The information also revealed that the body of the dead herdsman, was later taking to Ogwashi-Uku for burial immediately, according to Islamic injunction.
Meanwhile, the office of the Police Public Relation Officer, of Delta state police command confirmed the story in a phone interview, with the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Andrew Aniamaka , and said no arrest had been made, but investigation is on to solve the crime.
It could be recalled that the same incident recently occurred in Umuachi-Ogo, in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, where one Mr Victor and Mrs Achi are presently in Police Custody for stealing and killing of ten cows.
