WARRI/Nigeria: In a momentous celebration of his reelection and successful inauguration as the Presiding Officer of the 8th Delta Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, dedicated his triumph to God in a heartfelt thanksgiving service on Sunday. The event, held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCC, Redeemed Hall Mega Parish in Warri, witnessed a remarkable gathering of prominent personalities who came from near and far to be part of the auspicious occasion.
Addressing the congregation, Rt Hon Guwor expressed deep gratitude to God for his elevation from a mere member of the Assembly to the esteemed position of House Speaker. He sought divine guidance as he embarks on the challenging task of presiding over the affairs of the legislative body, the first arm of government in democratic governance.
The service was graced by the presence of notable dignitaries, with the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevrwori, and his wife Tobore leading the distinguished assembly. Also in attendance were the Wife of the Deputy Governor of the State, Dame Katrina Onyeme, a representative of the Governor of Taraba State, Speakers from various States’ Houses of Assembly, and several serving and former members of the National and State Assembly.
The religious ceremony, conducted by Pastor Charles Obasa of Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCC, Region 23, emphasized the importance of faithfulness and the need for leaders to have a clear vision for positive impacts on society. Prayers were offered for Emomotimi Guwor’s wisdom, understanding, and knowledge to excel as the Speaker, urging him to maintain focus even amid challenges.
Governor Sheriff Oborevrwori congratulated Guwor and urged him to remain humble, transparent, accountable, and a servant leader in his new role. He also addressed the flooding challenges in Warri and surrounding areas, promising action on illegal structures to facilitate the smooth flow of water and restore the lost glories of Warri City through strategic infrastructural development.
The celebratory atmosphere continued as Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor expressed his gratitude to God for his current position, acknowledging the instrumental role played by the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, and his parents in his political journey.
Following the service, a reception was held at the KFT event center, attended by numerous esteemed personalities from across the country. The event marked a memorable occasion of thanksgiving and hope for the future as Rt Hon Guwor embarks on his new term as the Presiding Officer of the Delta State Legislature.
