Guwor Pays Condolence Visit to Clark Family, Says Late Ijaw Leader Was Irreplaceable

ABUJA/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has described the late Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark as an irreplaceable father figure and a resolute advocate for justice and equity in Nigeria.

Guwor, who led a delegation to the Abuja residence of the late Ijaw national leader, commiserated with the Clark family, recalling his personal relationship with the late statesman. He was accompanied by a former Minister of Police Affairs, Alaowei Broderick Bozimo, and retired Justice Roselyn Bozimo.

According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the visit was significant on multiple levels, as Guwor not only represented the Delta State Legislature but also the Ijaw Political Leaders’ Forum in Delta State. He also acknowledged his deep familial ties with the late icon.

Speaking at the residence, Guwor recounted his last moments with Chief Clark, emphasizing his unwavering dedication to justice, fairness, and environmental protection. “It will be difficult to find a replacement for a man like Chief Clark. His entire life was dedicated to service, and he was a fearless advocate for the downtrodden and the people of the Niger Delta,” he said.

Guwor recalled how Chief Clark regularly checked on him, offering words of encouragement and wisdom. “Every month, Daddy would call me, saying, ‘My good son, how are you doing today?’ Even in the new year, he sent me a message, and I prayed for God to keep him for us because I knew his presence was invaluable,” he reminisced.

He noted that upon hearing of Chief Clark’s passing, the Delta State House of Assembly observed a minute of silence in his honor. He expressed deep condolences to the Clark family, led by Prof. College Clark, as well as the entire Niger Delta and Southern Nigeria, emphasizing that Chief Clark’s legacy would continue to inspire generations.

“Daddy has only transited. He has joined our ancestors, watching over us and praying for a better Nigeria,” Guwor stated.
