GPN Condemns Kaduna Crisis, Hails el-Rufai for Prompt Response In Tackling Violence
KADUNA/Nigeria: The Green Party of Nigeria (GPN), Kaduna State has condemned the recent violence that erupted in Kaduna State, describing it as uncalled for, while commending the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai for taking prompt action in preventing it from escalating.
Chairman of GPN in Kaduna State, Ahmed Mohammed Zagi in a statement personally signed, stressed that but for timely imposition of curfew and deployment of security by the Kaduna State Government, it would have been a bloodbath.
“We are grateful to Governor Nasir el-Rufai who for once has got it right and nipped the crisis in the bud,” it stated.
GPN commiserated with the Adara Chiefdom, Kachia and Kajuru local government councils, citizens and government of Kaduna State over the gruesome murder of the Agom Adara by his abductors, describing the act as wicked and devilish.
“We however, sue for peace from all parties as violence will not bring any benefit to our dear state. We must forgive each other and spread the message of love to move our society forward,” it appealed.
The party tasked security agencies to double up efforts to fish out the killers of the traditional ruler as well as those that were responsible for the violence that prompted the curfew being experienced.
“As a party, GPN is committed to peaceful coexistence and preaches same. Our core values also centre around such things that unite, rather than separate us.
“Hence, we call on religious and traditional rulers to complement government’s efforts at peace building by inculcating same in their followers and subjects,” GPN concluded.
