Governor Urges Communities to Safeguard Government Projects for Sustainable Development

EZIOKPOR/Nigeria: In a bid to ensure the longevity and full utilization of government projects, the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged communities where these projects are situated to take responsibility for their protection. This call to action, aligned with the MORE Agenda, was emphasized during the commissioning of several projects overseen by Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Council, Hon. Possible Ajede, and represented by Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA.

Governor Oborevwori stressed the importance of community involvement in safeguarding these initiatives, stating, “It is not enough for government to execute these projects in your area, it is important that you maintain them, protect them because you are the greatest beneficiaries of these projects.”

Among the projects commissioned were the Ebedei Ultra-Modern Onotu-Uku Palace, Eziokpor Ultra-Modern Town Hall, and the Obiaruku Ultra-Modern Abattoir. Governor Oborevwori underscored the significance of community maintenance, citing its critical role in ensuring sustained benefits for the populace.

He further urged communities to embrace peace and support his administration’s MORE agenda, emphasizing the pivotal role of cooperation in driving developmental initiatives forward.

Acknowledging the efforts of Chairman Ajede in addressing community needs, Governor Oborevwori commended the projects’ focus on enhancing local economies and public health standards. Notably, the Obiaruku Abattoir was hailed for its potential to provide hygienic meat processing and boost revenue generation.

Chairman Ajede reiterated the transformative impact of these projects on local communities, emphasizing their role in fostering unity and progress. Additionally, community representatives expressed gratitude for the fulfillment of their requests and appealed for further support in addressing essential needs.

In a related development, Governor Oborevwori, through his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, commissioned additional projects in Ndokwa West Local Government Area. These initiatives, including a town hall in Utagba-Uno and a market in Obi-Ukpo, signify the government’s commitment to widespread development.

The ceremony, attended by prominent figures including Elder Moses Iduh, Rear Admiral Mike Onah, OON, Chief Fidelis Tilije, and former Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ochor Christopher Ochor and underscores the collective effort towards advancing the state’s socio-economic landscape.
