Governor Sheriff Oborevwori Extols Asagba of Asaba as a Visionary Bridge Builder at Historic Anniversary Celebration

ASABA/Nigeria: In a momentous ceremony marking the 99th birthday and 32nd coronation anniversary of the revered Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori lauded the monarch as a bridge builder, emphasizing his pivotal role in fostering unity and peace in the region.

Governor’s commendation was delivered with warmth and admiration by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, at the Asagba’s Palace in Asaba.

Born on July 28, 1924, Prof. Chike Edozien ascended to the esteemed position of the 13th Asagba of Asaba on July 1, 1991. Governor Oborevwori expressed heartfelt prayers for the Asagba’s continued well-being, wishing him a life filled with love, joy, and laughter. Highlighting the significance of Asagba’s reign, the Governor credited the monarch with the transformation of Asaba into a thriving cosmopolitan city, an accomplishment made possible by his reign’s tranquility, welcoming all to its embrace.

Amidst the vibrant and well-attended event, Governor Oborevwori assured the Asagba of his administration’s unwavering commitment to elevate the capital city further. Pledging to build upon the achievements of his predecessor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor promised that Asaba would remain a priority, with ongoing projects to be completed and new ones initiated.

Underscoring the need for vigilance and security, Governor Oborevwori urged the residents of Asaba and the entire state to be watchful and report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities. He cautioned against allowing nefarious elements to disrupt the peace and progress enjoyed under the Asagba’s reign.

Grateful for the Governor’s assurances, the Asagba reminisced about his illustrious public service career and expressed deep gratitude to God for preserving his life to witness this momentous day.
