Governor Oborevwori Urges PDP Leaders to Strengthen Party Unity in Delta State

UDU/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has tasked the new leadership of the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with the mission of attracting opposition members to bolster the party’s strength ahead of future elections.

The governor delivered this charge on Sunday at the thanksgiving service held at Living Faith Church, Udu, in honour of Chief Emman Amgbaduba, the recently inaugurated Delta South PDP Chairman. Represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, Governor Oborevwori emphasised the importance of political unity for the state’s progress.

“Deltans will benefit significantly if we remain united under one political umbrella,” he stated. “Delta is PDP, and PDP is Delta. Our focus should be on bringing those in opposition back to our fold. A united Delta under PDP will yield more benefits for all.”

Using the metaphor of a broom, the governor illustrated the power of unity. “A single broomstick can be broken easily, but a bundle of broomsticks cannot. Let us remain united as Deltans and members of the PDP. By doing so, we can support the government’s activities, think positively, and continue to seek God’s guidance.”

Governor Oborevwori also highlighted his administration’s achievements under the MORE Agenda, which prioritises infrastructure development, education, and peace.

“Through God’s grace, we are delivering more for Deltans—more roads, more bridges, more employment, and more peace. Our administration came with a promise, and by God’s power, we are fulfilling it. Delta is a praying state, and that is why we continue to experience progress.”

The governor congratulated Chief Amgbaduba on his assumption of office and commended him for recognising God’s role in leadership. “I celebrate with our brother, Chief Amgbaduba, for his successful emergence as Delta South PDP Chairman. Remembering that all power belongs to God is a testament to true leadership,” he said.

The service also featured an inspiring sermon by Pastor Kolawole Oniwinde, who encouraged Christians to embrace joy as a spiritual foundation. “When one is saved, they are filled with the joy of salvation. Joy brings health, vitality, and divine security,” Pastor Oniwinde preached, urging believers to remain steadfast in faith and hopeful in all circumstances.

The thanksgiving service was a demonstration of unity and faith among party leaders and faithful, reinforcing the PDP’s commitment to a stronger, more united Delta State.
