Governor Oborevwori Unmoved by Distractions, Committed to Delta’s Development -Aide
WARRI/Nigeria: The Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has vowed to stay resolutely focused on delivering robust infrastructure and socioeconomic development across the state’s three senatorial districts, despite attempts at political distractions.
This reassurance was delivered by the Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, during a press briefing on Sunday and a live public affairs programme on Rize 106.7 FM in Warri.
Dr Oghenesivbe accused the major opposition party in Delta State of initiating early confrontations as part of a strategy to undermine the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
He criticised recent attacks on Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the immediate past governor of the state, describing them as desperate tactics by political opponents. “These attacks are borne out of fear of Governor Oborevwori’s sterling achievements and are attempts to dent Senator Okowa’s impeccable legacy,” he said.
Dr Oghenesivbe dismissed allegations of financial mismanagement under Senator Okowa’s administration as baseless and a calculated effort to distract the public from Governor Oborevwori’s ongoing developmental strides.
“The claims of misappropriating N1.3 trillion are not only laughable but also wicked. Senator Okowa led Delta State with transparency, publishing audited accounts annually and spearheading projects across oil-producing communities through DESOPADEC,” he added.
He assured that the PDP family in Delta, under Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, would defend Senator Okowa’s reputation and ensure no detractor succeeds in tarnishing his image.
“Against all odds, Senator Okowa will continue to play a significant role in Nigeria’s political landscape. Governor Oborevwori’s administration remains firmly committed to delivering quality governance that transcends political and religious divides,” he stated.
Highlighting Governor Oborevwori’s achievements, Dr Oghenesivbe noted that the administration’s good governance is evident less than two years into its tenure. “Governor Oborevwori is a God-fearing leader with humility at his core. He’s not concerned with the political theatrics of those panicking about 2027. His track record will speak volumes when the time comes,” he remarked.
He urged Deltans to reject efforts to discredit the PDP’s leadership and instead rally behind Governor Oborevwori’s vision to move Delta State forward.
“As we advance Delta beyond 2027, let us continue to support and pray for Governor Oborevwori. The administration is unwavering in its mission to deliver dividends of democracy to the people,” he concluded.
