Governor Oborevwori Hails Impact of MORE Agenda, Urges Strategic Communication to Counter Propaganda
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed the positive impact of his administration’s MORE Agenda on citizens across the state.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 5th Delta State Communication Workshop in Asaba, the Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, emphasized the importance of effective public communication in showcasing government achievements and tackling misinformation.
“Our projects and accomplishments under the M.O.R.E Agenda are steadily bringing the dividends of democracy to Deltans across the three senatorial districts,” the Governor stated. He urged media appointees, government spokespersons, social media influencers, and media partners to counter propaganda with verifiable evidence of the administration’s progress.
The three-day workshop, themed Advancing Delta: Strategies for Public Communication and Effective Media Engagement, aims to enhance the capacity of government media personnel. Governor Oborevwori described the program as timely, highlighting the need for media teams to propagate the administration’s agenda of Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.
“As government media personnel, your responsibilities have become expansive. You must be prepared to operate effectively in the dynamic media landscape while promoting our impactful initiatives,” he added.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, calling for strategic communication to reflect federal policies and attract goodwill for Delta State. “By showcasing our achievements and supporting the federal government’s agenda, we position Delta to reap significant benefits,” he noted.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, praised the administration’s achievements, citing the construction of 513 road projects and the empowerment of over 250,000 citizens under the D-CARES program. Similarly, Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, lauded Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, the workshop coordinator, for his dedication to promoting the state’s achievements.
Chief Trainer Professor Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika commended the state for prioritizing effective communication, describing it as a cornerstone of transformative governance.
In his welcome remarks, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Director-General of the Delta State Orientation and Communication Bureau, highlighted the workshop’s evolution since its inception in 2019. He expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for supporting the initiative, assuring participants that the training modules were designed to enhance their professional capabilities.
The workshop, a signature program under the state’s communication strategy, continues to bolster the government’s efforts to connect with citizens and sustain public trust through transparent and impactful communication.
