Governor Oborevwori Encourages Public Servants to Embrace Humility in Service to the People

ISELE-UKU/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, delivered a poignant call to political officeholders, urging them to embody humility in their service to the populace, attributing their roles to the glory of God. Speaking at the Thanksgiving Service honoring Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, held at St. Paul’s Catholic Cathedral Church in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the significance of selfless dedication.

Describing Hon. Emeka Nwaobi as a person of integrity, the Governor urged him to persist in his endeavors with humility, emphasizing the importance of leveraging his position to foster unity among the people of Aniocha North for the greater good of the local community. He also urged the public to continuously express gratitude to God for His benevolence in their lives.

Reflecting on his own journey, Governor Oborevwori reminisced about his past involvement in the PDP Governorship primaries at the Ogwashi-Uku stadium in 2006. “As we came here this morning, we passed through the Ogwashi-Uku stadium where we came for PDP Governorship primaries in 2006,” he shared. “It is only God that can do a thing like that and it is good to give thanks to Him for whatever happens because if Okowa had become Governor in 2007 perhaps I wouldn’t have been Governor today.”

In response, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori and the party leadership for the trust placed in him to serve as Majority Leader of the House. He pledged unwavering loyalty and dedication to the Speaker and members of the House, urging his constituents in Aniocha North, particularly Issele-Uku kingdom, to continue their steadfast support for the PDP to ensure the delivery of more dividends of democracy.

Earlier in his teaching on “The Parable of Christ to His Disciples,” Most Rev. Dr. Michael Elue, the Catholic Bishop of Issele-Uku Diocese, emphasized the significance of utilizing God-given talents to serve His purpose. The Bishop highlighted that every talent bestowed upon individuals should be utilized for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom, emphasizing God’s abundant rewards for those who utilize their talents in His service.

The Thanksgiving Service saw the presence of esteemed dignitaries including the State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, immediate past Governor of the State Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor and his wife Timiebi, amongst others. The impressive turnout underscored the importance of the occasion and its significance within the political landscape of Delta State.
