Foundation Launches Empowerment Scheme to Benefit Delta Youths

KWALE/Nigeria: The Ifeoma Aguba Fadahunsi Foundation (IAFF), a non-governmental, non-profit organisation, has launched its empowerment scheme through the Ifeoma Skill Acquisition Programme (ISAP).

The initiative, launched on 19th October 2024, aims to equip participants from diverse ethnic groups in Delta State with vital skills to improve their livelihoods.

The flag-off ceremony was held at Owesse Primary School, Kwale, in Ndokwa West Local Government Area. Over 100 candidates were accredited and will receive training in various vocational skills. Upon completing the programme, beneficiaries will be provided with starter packs to facilitate the transition from training to entrepreneurship. The foundation’s core focus areas extend beyond skills acquisition to include charity, educational grants, and social services.

During the event, Chief Vincent Osilonya, Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government Area, praised Mrs Ifeoma Aguba Fadahunsi, founder of IAFF, for her philanthropic vision and dedication to her community. Represented by the Secretary of Ndokwa East, Hon Tunji Iyasele, Osilonya urged others of Ukwuani descent to follow Mrs Fadahunsi’s example of giving back to society.

“It’s commendable what Ifeoma Aguba Fadahunsi and her husband are doing,” said Iyasele. “They are improving lives and reducing crime in our society. I always remind people that we are not taking money to the afterlife. What you do while alive is what you will be remembered for after passing on.”

Hon Iyasele pledged to collaborate with the Ndokwa East executive to further strengthen the foundation’s impact on the local community.

Chief (Mrs) Faith Onah, another speaker at the event, lauded the IAFF for its continued efforts to support the people of Delta State. “This foundation has been a blessing, and its work is God-sent. While governments play their part, IAFF has stepped in to train our young people, providing them with skills for a brighter future,” she remarked.

Mrs Onah highlighted that the foundation’s work is particularly crucial in a time of economic hardship, as it offers a pathway for many to escape poverty through skill development. The initiative is seen as a lifeline for the youths of Delta State, equipping them to build sustainable livelihoods in the face of Nigeria’s current economic challenges.
