Former APC Spokesperson Urges President Tinubu to Oust FCT Minister Amid Alleged Impeachment Plot
ABUJA/Nigeria: The former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take swift action by removing the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. Frank alleges that Wike is orchestrating a plot to impeach Governor Siminilaye Fubara of Rivers State.
From his office in Abuja, Frank strongly condemned the recent actions of the police, accusing them of tear-gassing and dousing Governor Fubara, who holds the position of Chief Security in the state. He also urged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to promptly relieve the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State of his duties due to what he perceives as a partisan stance against the duly elected governor.
Frank insisted that Wike’s removal is imperative to prevent any further harm to the reputation of President Tinubu’s government and the potential destabilization of the APC. He stated, “Already, Wike has commenced the demolition of properties and the revocation of land ownership in Abuja, stoking the anger of Nigerians and painting Tinubu’s administration as wicked and anti-people.”
He continued, “By the time Tinubu realizes it, it may be too late, as Wike could have significantly damaged his government, paving the way for his own presidential bid in 2027.”
Frank suggested that Wike’s actions are motivated by his desire for good governance and his aspirations for the 2027 presidency. He asserted that Wike’s desperate measures could lead to the destruction of the government if not reined in. Frank argued that Wike’s refusal to join the APC is a sign of his intent to undermine the party, with the ultimate goal of running for president in 2027 under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, Frank appealed to both Tinubu and the APC to intervene and halt the unfolding crisis in Rivers State, warning that it may backfire if left unaddressed.
Frank claimed that Wike initially supported Fubara’s gubernatorial candidacy but now views him as an adversary because Fubara no longer complies with Wike’s directives, characterizing Wike as a dictator motivated by financial gain.
As the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, Frank also called on governors from all political parties to unite and support their counterpart in Rivers State in his efforts to counter Wike’s alleged dictatorship and political influence in the state.
“If Wike is allowed to unlawfully remove Fubara as governor using federal might,” Frank warned, “it could set a precedent for former governors to employ illegality, following Wike’s example, to push sitting governors out of office whenever they fail to comply with their demands.”
Frank urged Fubara to stand strong and resolute in resisting Wike’s alleged machinations, expressing his belief that light will eventually triumph over darkness. He encouraged Fubara to reach out to the people of Rivers State, regardless of their political affiliations, to promote reconciliation and peace in the state.
In conclusion, Frank called on all Nigerians, especially the residents of Rivers State, not to allow Wike’s actions to incite crisis in the state.
