Football is a Unifying Factor in the Society- Ojo
Ebedei: The sport of football has again been described as a unifying factor in the society.
This assertion was made by the member representing Ukwuani Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Alphonsus Ojo, at the end of the grand finally of the maiden edition of the Ebedei Progressive Youths Forum, (EPYF), football competition, tagged, Ebedei Unity Cup Competition, held at the Adonishaka Primary School Field, Adonishaka, Ebedei, on December, 26,2016.
Hon Ojo while commending the organisers of the competition for the bold steps taken in initiating a program in form of sport competition to strengthen the bond of unity and togetherness among the different quarters of the Ebedei community, congratulated the winners that took part in the competition.
The lawmaker called on the organisers to keep it up, as the initiative is a good development, as such initiative will bring faster development to the community if it is sustained.
While calling on the EPYF to seek for partnership with football promoting authourities in the state in subsequent editions, he tasked other communities in Ukwuani to emulate the organisers, as such competition can be an avenue for local boys to be exposed to local and international football.
“From here the best boys can be picked to ply football trades in other clubs locally and internationally”.
The competition which had being on for some weeks, saw Ogbe Uzu FC defeating Obi Ogene FC to win the competition on penalties. Earlier in the morning, the third place match saw Ukwuole FC defeating Adonishaka FC.
