Federal Govt Called to Make Budget Provision for Power Project in Ndokwa

KWALE /Nigeria: The Delta State and Federal Governments, had been called to increase their development contributions to the people of Ndokwa for the area to show benefit of her contribution to the nation.

This call was made by the people of the area in a one day Ndokwa Assembly, held on the 26 of December, 2019, in Kwale, by the Ndokwa Neku Union, onbehalf of the Ndokwa People.

The occasion, which saw the presentation of the stewardship of the Chief Johnson Opone led Executive, a communique was made which among others called for the urgent visit to the President Mohammadu Buhari to assent to the Federal Polytechnic Bill which was passed by the 8th National Assembly.

The Assembly further made a call for budgetary provisions be set aside by the Federal Government towards the Construction of a 132/32 KVA transmission line from Okpai to Kwale.

The Leadership also used the medium to commend Delta State Government for awarding the contracts for the construction of Bridge Across Ase Creek Kwale to link up Benekuku and Okpai Communities, and some of the Roads completed by Delta State Government in the area, also used the medium to call on the State Government to award some of the Roads in the area yet to be done.

In the area of health services, Agriculture,  and modular refineries, and Amnesty,  the Leadership therefore called on the Federal Government, both State Government and DESOPADEC to upgrade, provide equipment and medication to the General Hospitals in Kwale, Obiaruku, Ashaka, Utagba- Unor; and agreed that co-operative Societies would be formed in all the Ndokwa Communities for the sake of accessing Agro Schemes to boost Agriculture in the area; also that Ndokwa people will set up a modular refinery which called on Ndokwa People, DESOPADEC to use support towards the actualization the initiative through PPP Commercial operations with the oil and gas Companies in the area, added  that wider consultations from the Niger-Delta Ministry should be extended to  the Leadership of NNU before the approval of Amnesty beneficiaries in future; then commended some political Stakeholders in the area on the roles played towards conflicts mitigation and Management.

He then called on Delta State Government to increase the derivation slots of Ndokwa ethnic Nationalities from 9 Percent to 14 Percent in DESOPADEC allocation to tally with the present realities of Ndokwa People producing over 110,000 barrels of crude oil daily, aring on the present increase of 55, 000 barrels increase daily.

The PG while appealing for the support of Stakeholders in Ndokwa Nation, the entire People of Ndokwa ethnic Nationalities, Niger-Delta Ministry, Niger-Delta Development Commission, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Federal Government and Oil Companies operating in the area  to use the funds, resources, allocation meant for Ndokwa People to render support to the group towards the Socio-economic development of Ndokwa ethnic Nationalities, then use the medium to called on the past Executives to return the property of Ndokwa people still in their possession.
