Ezewu Urges Education Leaders to Uphold Teaching Profession Ethics

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State’s Commissioner for Basic Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, has delivered a passionate call to Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) and principals within the state’s secondary schools.

She stated this while on a visit to the field office of the ministry in the local government headquarters of Aniocha North and South, Mrs. Ezewu emphasized the importance of maintaining the ethical standards of the teaching profession.

Mrs. Ezewu reiterated the commitment of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration to bolstering the state’s education sector, ensuring a bright future for Deltans. She stressed that the realization of this future hinges on the unwavering dedication of those responsible for driving the machinery of education in the state, underlining that teachers must consistently exhibit good conduct to serve as role models in society.

She suggested that, like healthcare workers, teachers should adopt a dress code that garners the admiration of those around them. She also proposed regular appraisals of teachers within the jurisdiction of CIEs as a welcome development.

Highlighting the passion Governor Oborevwori holds for education, Mrs. Ezewu appealed to principals to wholeheartedly commit to shaping their students’ futures through impactful education. She emphasized that the M.O.R.E agenda would accelerate improvements in the education sector.

Furthermore, Mrs. Ezewu made it clear that being a principal does not grant the authority to exploit parents facing financial hardships due to the nation’s economic challenges. She warned that the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education would take decisive action against any principal found overcharging parents beyond approved levies, reaffirming the commitment to a fair and accessible education system in Delta State.
