Exercise Caution During Adverse Weather Conditions, Okowa Tells Deltans … As SEMA Distributes Relief Materials to Rainstorm Victims
AGBOR/Nigeria: The Delta state government, through its State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has distributed relief materials to over 65 victims of rainstorm disaster in Alifikede Community, Ika South Local Government Area, in evidence of its responsibility and responsiveness.
It will be recalled that in April 2018, rainstorm had ravaged the community, with the market hardest hit, affecting residential apartments and prompted Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to identify with the plight of the people.
Addressing beneficiaries of the government’s intervention packages, Governor Okowa who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Chiedu Ebie, stated that efforts was being made by the Okowa administration to support disaster victims across the state.
The governor while urging the people to utilize the stipends given to them wisely, charged Deltans to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions, even as he expressed condolence with those affected in the recent floods.
Meanwhile, the member representing the community in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Festus Okoh, urged the people to remain steadfast and support the state government, noting that Governor Okowa remained committed to fulfilling all his promises.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Victor Okoh, commended the prompt response of the state government and reaffirmed the allegiance of the people of the area to Governor Okowa in building a stronger Delta.
The Director of SEMA, Mr Karo Ovomeso, thanked the Governor Okowa for empathizing with the people and swinging into action when the incidence occurred.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the state government for the prompt intervention while thanking Governor Okowa for remembering them in their time of need.
