Executive Director of DESOPADEC Brightens Easter for Isoko Elderly
OLEH/Nigeria: In a heartwarming gesture, Chief Oghenekome Okpobor, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration on the Board of DESOPADEC, brought joy to the elderly in Isoko North and South as part of Easter celebrations.
The event, held at the Isoko Development Union (IDU) House in Oleh, Delta State, drew a large crowd from the Isoko nation.
Chief Okpobor, addressing the recipients, expressed his commitment to supporting his people with his personal resources, not government funds. Emulating the Governor of Delta State, he selected 20 people from each of the 24 Wards in Isoko—11 in Isoko South and 13 in Isoko North, totaling 480 individuals. Each recipient received a token of twenty thousand naira.
“This gesture is from my pocket,” Chief Okpobor emphasized, promising more initiatives to come and urging Isoko people to support Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for his efforts in the region. He assured that such exercises would be conducted regularly, based on his capacity and God’s blessings.
Prof. Chris Akpotu, the President General of Isoko Development Union, commended Chief Okpobor’s generosity, attributing it to the Easter spirit and the executive’s care for the community. He encouraged prayers for the executive in recognition of his contributions.
Prince Mzee Fidelis Obokpaino, the IDU Youth President, also expressed gratitude for Chief Okpobor’s efforts in unifying Isoko youths and his support for the elderly.
Two recipients, Pa. Jacob Umukoro from Otor-Iyede Ward 1 and Madam Akpoleu Rachel from Ozoro Ward 3, thanked Chief Okpobor, praying for his well-being.
Among the attendees were the Second Vice President of IDU, Double Chief Daniel Odhomo; Former Vice Chairman of Isoko North LG Council, Comr. Frank Ozue; IDU Youth Vice President, Comr. Macaulay James; and IDU Youth Secretary, Comr. David Igbe, among others.
