Eid-el-Fitr: PDP Acting Chairman Damagum Urges Prayers for Nigeria’s Emancipation from Bad Governance

ABUJA/Nigeria: The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Ilya Damagum, has urged Nigerians to pray fervently for the nation’s liberation from what he described as the grip of bad governance.

In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by his Media Assistant, Bisi Ezekiel, Damagum felicitated with Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, urging them to uphold the values of love, tolerance, and peace. He described Ramadan as a period of intense devotion, self-discipline, and spiritual renewal, emphasizing the need to carry forward its virtues beyond the holy month.

“Through fasting, prayers, and charity, we have strengthened our faith and renewed our commitment to the values of peace, unity, and love for humanity. As we rejoice today, let us carry forward these noble teachings beyond Ramadan and continue on the path of righteousness,” Damagum stated.

He lamented the state of governance in the country, calling on Nigerians to pray against what he termed lawlessness and intolerance under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). “Fellow Nigerians, irrespective of faith or ethnicity, I urge us all to pray for our beloved country, which is presently in the claws of bad governance, lawlessness, and intolerance for opposition voices, foisted upon us by the APC administration of President Bola Tinubu,” he said.

Damagum further accused the APC-led government of undermining democratic institutions, including the National Assembly, judiciary, and armed forces. He called on Nigerians to stand in solidarity with the PDP, reject bad governance, and prepare for the 2027 elections to restore democracy and good governance. He prayed that the blessings of Eid-el-Fitr bring renewed hope, peace, and progress to the nation.
