Edwin Clark Hails Governor Oborevwori’s Achievements, Challenges Critics
ABUJA/Nigeria: Elder statesman and convener of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark, has lauded Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his remarkable achievements since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
In an open letter on Friday, Clark commended Oborevwori for transforming Warri into a thriving commercial hub and addressing long-standing infrastructural deficits across Delta State. He described the governor’s accomplishments within a short period as unprecedented, challenging critics to identify any previous administration that had achieved as much within a comparable timeframe.
Highlighting Oborevwori’s commitment to reviving Warri’s economic and commercial status, Clark noted the significant progress made in restoring the city’s vibrancy, which had been neglected by prior administrations. “Warri is fast becoming a sight to behold, returning to its old self. The famous Warri Township, which had been reduced to a shadow of itself, is being revitalized under Oborevwori’s leadership,” he wrote.
Clark praised the governor for engaging Julius Berger Construction Company in delivering critical infrastructure projects, including the construction of three flyovers, a cloverleaf interchange, pedestrian bridges, and road expansions at the DSC Roundabout. The projects, valued at ₦78 billion, are already making significant strides.
He also commended Oborevwori for ensuring equitable development across the state, citing the ongoing dualization of the Asaba-Ughelli Road and other projects that have touched nearly every part of Delta State. “Almost all parts of the state are feeling the impact of Governor Oborevwori’s developments,” Clark stated.
The elder statesman applauded the governor for clearing over ₦300 billion in debts left by previous administrations and prioritizing projects that directly benefit the people rather than engaging in political patronage.
“I am not a praise singer. I speak the truth,” Clark declared. “Governor Oborevwori has achieved remarkable progress in development and democracy enhancement in Delta State. I urge him to remain focused, ensuring that no community is left behind.”
He further urged the governor to continue addressing the needs of oil-producing communities while fostering balanced development across the state, reiterating his belief in Oborevwori’s vision and dedication to uplifting Delta State.
